Stay Creative

Categories: The Addicting Blog

“Did you know that the color blue can double your creative input? And that the most creative companies have centralized bathrooms?”

Jonah Lehrer came out with a great book IMAGINE – How Creativity Works in which he tells us how to learn and maximize your creativity. According to him creativity is not a single gift possessed by the lucky few but is actually a thought processes that is available to all of us!

Here are a few other ideas as to how to stay creative:

  1. In an article in The Wall Street Journal, Jonah Lehrer advises his readers to surround themselves by the color blue. “It leads to more relaxed and associative thinking.”
  2. A great blog for creative inspiration is Creative Something. We are told to experiment with something new today. “The thing about experimentation is we can’t accurately predict the outcome. … you just won’t know until you try.” 4/18
  3. Travel the world. “Students who have lived abroad were much more likely to solve a classic insight puzzle. Their experience of another culture endowed thim with a valuable open-mindedness.” The Wall Street Journal
  4. Another adivce from Lehrer is to daydream away. “People who daydream more score higher on various test of creativity.” The Wall Street Journal
  5. According to blog author Tanner on Creative Something, listening to some Jazz is good for us. “Jazz music increases creativity.”
  6. Always work on new problems. ““If you have to pick one secret to staying creative throughout your entire life, it’s to seek out new problems, and when you feel comfortable and like you know how to do something, do something else.” Dorie Clark wrote an article for Forbes.
  7. Watch movies, listen to music and read comics. “Movies really help one to better understand composition and use of color. Movies, music, comics and all the things in between – help me stay creative.” Miguel Mansur, Illustrator
  8. Move to a metropolis. “With its high level of diverse people, occupations, foods, art, economics and social status, and on and on, there is much for my creativity to thrive on.” Toomas, Photographer
  9. Keep working outside of your job. “I think the key to staying creative is to keep shooting even when you’re not getting paid.” Andrea Bricco, Photographer
  10. Keep checking blogs for more creative inspiration!

Our Obsession with Brooklyn Continues

Categories: Home Interiors, The Addicting Blog

We have found yet another incredibly beautiful house in Brooklyn. This Greek revival house is 3200 sf in size and its full renovation was completed in 2011. CWB Architects, located in Brooklyn’s DUMBO historic waterfront, did such a great job turning it into something so elegant and luxurious. (See their website here.) Can I move in right now?!

Bon Mimi Members Only Sale Site

Categories: Fashion, Projects, The Addicting Blog

Our wonderful clients Bon Mimi launched their site today! Bon Mimi is a members only sale site startup for children 0-5. Our clients already had their site, concept and functionality in place. We worked with them to create a look and a feel that felt fresh, fun and boutique-like. We used soft colors, cute-imagery and pattern to create the look of Bon Mimi.

Sometimes we work with clients who have their own developed teams and they bring us in for design and visual look and feel! We really enjoyed this process!

Happy Holi

Categories: Just Life, Projects, The Addicting Blog, Travel

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated all over India to mark the beginning of Spring and the harvest! Basically there is no school and no one goes to work and has a color fight/water fight with colored water on the streets, in their gardens and for me growing up – downstairs in our building compound! – Reshma
